USS Huron
Located in: North Americas Atlantic >> United States (east) >> Cape Hatteras
She was headed for Havana in 1877 when she ran aground on the shoals off Nags head. An iron hulled stem-and-sail war ship, the Huron is now a Historic Shipwreck Preserve. Though this wreck lies in 20 feet of water it isnt for beginners. It lies in the cold northern coastal waters and in a heavy surf zone with low visibility (about 10 feet).
