SS Missouri
Located in: European Coast >> England & Wales >> Anglesey
The barque SS Missouri outward bound from Boston Massachusetts for Liverpool ran into the worst snow storm to hit Anglesey on 1 March 1886. The Missouri became a total loss despite the efforts of the Liverpool Salvage Association. Today the wreck is flattened and dispersed yet many important features remain recognisable. These include part of the bow, deck winch, wooden decking and the boilers. The wreck hardly experiences any tidal currents and is no deeper than 15 metres. It is a haven for marine life and makes an excellent first wreck dive.
